Kimberly Drive standoff ends with tear gas, 41-year-olds arrest | Free News

A 41-year-old man who barricaded himself in his Kimberly Drive home on Friday was arrested after Laurel police used tear gas to flush him from his home.
Robert Pryor was arrested at about 11:30 Friday morning, about 90 minutes after Laurel police went to arrest him on a burglary charge from the previous night, LPD Deputy Chief Earl Reed said.
Pryor was captured on a neighbor’s doorbell camera breaking into a home across the street from his. When police went to arrest him at his home, he barricaded himself inside. No one else was in the residence, located in North Laurel off Old Amy Road.
After about an hour, LPD tear-gassed the home and, about a half-hour after that, Pryor exited the home through a window. He was taken into custody without incident and no injuries were reported, Reed said.
The use of tear gas in a home, such as Friday, is rare, Reed said, but it worked.
“We hope we don’t have to use it for a long time,” he said.
Pryor was scheduled to have his initial appearance in Laurel Municipal Court this weekend, Reed said.
