Meghan Markle’s Hollywood friendship group includes billionaire Tyler Perry who became her safe space where she opened up to him like her ‘therapist.’

Ever since Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from active royal duties in 2020, the royal couple have been at the center of criticism. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved to the U.S. shortly after announcing their decision. Before buying their own place in California, the royal couple stayed in Tyler Perry’s house for a while, which became their ‘hiding spot’ for several months.

Tyler Perry reveals Meghan Markle confided in him like a therapist

Billionaire Tyler Perry is sharing how he got close to Meghan and Prince Harry over the past few years.

Speaking of the beginning of their close-knit friendship, the Star Trek star shared: “‘Everybody thought Oprah introduced us, but Oprah didn’t even know that I reached out to them.” He added that he was introduced to the former TV star through a mutual publicist.

Tyler recalled: “I sent them a note… and just said, ‘If you ever need anything, I’m here,’ and she called months later and just talked to me like I was a therapist, and we just had a great conversation.”

The 54-year-old celebrity also opened his home for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and gushed over the time that they stayed at his place, calling it “a beautiful moment.”

Meghan opens up about Tyler’s generosity

The Sussexes have talked about Tyler’s generosity in the Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan.

An emotional Meghan shared: “He [was] like, ‘My house is safe.… You’re going to stay as long as you need,’

“‘And I’m going get you there safely. And I’m gonna keep you there safely until you have somewhere to go.’”

The emotion is mutual between the two, as Perry said it was great having them around.

He offered: “Every day. Every day that they were there, I looked to see if anything’s happening online. Nothing. They don’t even know, so weeks and weeks they were there.”
